Continental Soccer League

The history of Continental Soccer began under the leadership of Mr. Edgar Vazquez, who recognized an untapped opportunity for organized weekday soccer competition. During this period, the Intersemanal Division was created, becoming one of the league's first successful weekday competitions.

The very first Intersemanal champion was Platense, managed by Professor Victor Argueta. La Crisis, coached by Professor David Serrano, finished as runner-up. The first official match in this new division became part of league history when Guadalajara faced San Miguel at Talbert School.

Driven by a vision to continue growing amateur soccer, Mr. Israel Salazar founded his own league in 1991, naming it Unión Latinoamericana. The league began with twelve teams and successfully organized its first Relámpago Tournament.

Soon afterward, Mr. Israel Salazar and Mr. Edgar Vazquez, President of Mariners Soccer League, agreed to combine their efforts, ideas, and long-term vision. Together they established a stronger organization capable of managing multiple competitions simultaneously, including the Intersemanal, Sabatina, and Dominical divisions.

This collaboration led to the creation of Liga Interamericana Soccer League (Interamericana SL).

The first official tournament of Interamericana SL produced outstanding competition.

These early tournaments confirmed the success of the organization and laid the foundation for future growth.

In 1997, Mr. Israel Salazar launched a new division called Continental and affiliated it with the Southern California Soccer Association. Although the affiliation did not fully meet the league's expectations, both organizations continued working together under the Interamericana Soccer League structure.

In March 2008, differences regarding league management and decision-making led Mr. Israel Salazar to begin an independent project.

That new project became what is now known as Continental Soccer League, continuing the mission of providing competitive, organized, and community-focused soccer for players and families throughout Southern California.
